We like to make a big deal out of how selfless we are, when we put someone else’s future, or the inclusion of someone else, into consideration in our plans. But you know what? Letting someone else dictate the big choices in our life, that’s not so much a selfless decision as an easy one.
Some people are so used to having their life decided for them, that to finally step out of the cycle and say, “I’m doing this because it is exactly what I want to do, and it’s my life to live,” is the most courageous thing imaginable.
And it is scary, and painful, and so many other iterations of hard, but in the end, really the most appropriate choice.
